It's been a long wait since Google first announced the Pixel Buds 2 — the company's first truly wireless earphones — back in October 2019 during the Made By Google event. Then, after turning up here and there by mistake on online stores and pre-order, the tech giant has finally released the earphones and they are now available for $179 from the US Google Store.
The earphones come with a 12mm driver inside and feature an IPX4 input security level, which means they're going to hold up fine under a workout strain, however, it's not going to be prudent to take them for a swim.
Also, the Pixel Buds 2 comes with a battery life of 5 hours, which is relatively good, especially given the size. Moreover, the included charging case will carry a total of 24 hours of battery life on the earbuds, which is fantastic. The headphones come with fast charging as well, and Google claims a 10-minute charge will give you 2.5 hours of earbud listening time. The case charges over USB-C, and you can also use the charging cable on your smartphone to charge the Pixel Buds 2.
The Pixel Buds 2 is now available on the Google Store in the United States for $179 in “Clearly White”. The company keeps the color name-wise that was used in the Pixel phone. The next will be “Oh So Orange”, “Quite Mint”, and “Almost Black” for later availability.
