GSMA cancels MWC 2020 due to Coronavirus fear

RIP MWC 2020, see you next year!

Many companies continuously announced the cancellation of joining MWC 2020 due to Coronavirus fear. We've already guessed that GSMA may cancel MWC 2020 while Coronavirus continues to spread out.

Finally, GSMA officially confirmed the cancellation of the conference after an emergency meeting was held.

MWC2020 Announcement

“With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today, the GSMA has canceled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern, and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event,” said GSMA CEO John Hoffman in an official statement.

This statement is to be told that MWC 2020 is impossible to take place because Coronavirus fear hasn't gone away yet. MWC is a huge annual smartphone event that always attracts many companies and eyes around the world. Unfortunately, we won't see it this year and we have to skip it around.

Just before this, GSMA had prepared for health concerns and even recently shared a safety guide, some of the biggest names, including LG, Sony, Amazon, Nokia, and Cisco have been pulling out of the conference in recent days. This seems not to help a lot in keeping them feeling safe. Since all major exhibitors had pulled the plug on their participation, GSMA had undoubtedly decided to kill the MWC conference this year.
