Maybe you can forget Snapdragon 865, but not me (sigh! I personally just got in hand the Sony Xperia 1ii with Snapdragon 865). An enhanced version of Snapdragon 865 is just finally unveiled by Qualcomm. It is Snapdragon 865+ and you might also hear many reports of this new CPU-powered smartphone are about to reveal.
It is not the first time. As you know, Qualcomm did such the same thing on its previous CPU, Snapdragon 855, and followed by Snapdragon 855+ as an enhanced version for gaming phones.
The same to the Snapdragon 855+, the Snapdragon 865+ will boost the clock speed to be more powerful. As it is, the Snapdragon 865+ comes with Kryo 585 cores that clocks at 3.1GHz. Its performance is 10% higher if we compare it to the clock speed delivered by the Snapdragon 865.
With the same percentage to clock speed, the Adreno 650 GPU in this Snapdragon 865+ will deliver even 10% faster graphics rendering. Not hesitate to say, this chipset will give you a different performance in intensive tasks like gaming. So gaming phones will be the first to dominate to be powerful smartphones to date. As mentioned, the first phone with the Snapdragon 865+ will be the Asus ROG Phone 3 and later follow by the Lenovo Legion gaming phone.
Like the regular version, the Snapdragon 865+ will have a Qualcomm X55 5G modem for 5G connectivity. Even more, what you get in the regular version, this enhanced one will give you the same such as 144Hz refresh rates, 8K video recording, 5G sub-6GHz, and mmWave support, and everything else.
Rather, the new chipset will feature the new FastConnect 6900 suite and includes WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 instead that just differs from the regular one that came with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1.
According to Qualcomm, the smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 865+ will start coming out in the third quarter of 2020. Then, it is not too long to wait. We are ready to see the next comings.
