Qualcomm unveiled its flagship chipset Snapdragon 865 just a few months since at the 2019 Snapdragon Tech Summit and rumors about the existence and timeline expected of the Snapdragon 865+ SoC have already begun to surface online.
Qualcomm is expected to refresh the flagship chipset lineup by releasing the Snapdragon 865+ sometime in the Q3 of this year, according to a Weibo tipster who goes by the name Digital Chat Station. The post also suggests the chipset prototypes would be ready in the next two months.
The post's statements don't really come as a surprise as the chipmaker revealed last year's Snapdragon 855+ SoC in July. Snapdragon 855+ came with an overclocked CPU and GPU which allowed relatively faster processing speeds and gaming performance to be increased by up to 15 percent.
For Snapdragon 865, we might predict the same too. It could cross a few differences to provide improved performance and efficiency for the batteries. Qualcomm should incorporate the 5G modems rather than making them optional, as was the case with the Snapdragon 765 series.
Snapdragon 865 is an octa-core 7 nm chipset with Kryo 585 CPU and Adreno 650 GPU, to be recalled. This incorporates the 5th-gen AI Engine, a new Image Signal Processor for Spectra 480, supports Wi-Fi 6 requirements, 144Hz display panels, and more.
Since Snapdragon 865 has just released, many flagship devices in early 2020 are equipped with this SoC such as the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S20 Series. Once the chipsets are ready we could expect them to be equipped in late 2020 on the flagship devices.
