Sony is one of the leading sound industry and Sony WH-1000XM3 over-ear is the current best noise-canceling headphones on the market right now, with very strong noise cancellation, the best sound quality, and improved fit from previous versions.
Sony WH-1000XM4 is expected to arrive soon according to the FCC filing over the weekend, however, we don't get much information based on this filing.
What is the FCC? An FCC ID is a unique identifier assigned to a device registered with the United States Federal Communications Commission. Companies normally file required documents with the FCC about new products well before the public sees or hears anything about them, and companies may ask the FCC to keep those documents private, such as product images and user manuals. With this WH-1000XM4 filings, Sony kept both of them under wraps.
Due to the FCC, we've seen the AK8WH1000XM4 as its FCC ID. We can't tell that WH-1000XM4 is an actual name of the headphones, but it might be true if we use the same logic we've known before on WH-1000XM3 that had the AK8WH1000XM3 as its FCC ID and even the other versions.
We don't have more information about WH-1000XM3's successor, also when the new headphones could be released. Yet CES 2020 is coming next month on January 7, and we expect that Sony may announce the WH-1000XM4 at this Las Vegas show.
