The next Sony Xperia may arrive at MWC 2020 and feature a punch-hole camera

What name will Sony call its next smartphone?

Sony has been rumored to release their smartphone lineups with 4 flagships and mid-rangers in 2020. There's another report revealed the next Sony smartphone for 2020 may feature a punch-hole front-facing camera. This sounds weird at the moment you heard about such a thing. you may wonder whether Sony brings that design to its consumers.

Sony, as normal, mostly has brought something different to trending and this attitude also makes its smartphone lineups, i.e. latest Xperia 1 and Xperia 5, are hard to come back into the smartphone market. Sony, however, hasn't given up a dream to get its market share back. Eventually, 2020 is a special year for Sony.

According to LetGoDigital, Sony Corporation has applied in its home country, Japan, for a patent. The patent itself is for a modern graphical user interface and was issued on December 19, 2019, in the WIPO Global Concept Database. In the patent, two-color renders are included for a smartphone on which the UI is displayed. It reveals several details about the smartphone as a chin on the device's bottom while the top has a narrow bezel that there is no space to house a selfie camera.

Also, the renders patented demonstrate the upcoming Xperia smartphone's frame and borders. This leads to user speculation on the front of a selfie punch-hole display camera.

Besides, when comparing renders with existing Xperia smartphones, the aspect ratio and form factor of the device is identical to Sony Xperia 1, which features a CinemaWide 21:9 ratio display. The patent also discloses other key information such as "Monday, February 25," the company's previous flagship smartphone's announcement day. MWC 2020 kicks off on February 24, 2020, so we can look forward to seeing more information on the second day.

However, the report hasn't included concrete details. Nonetheless, it is speculated that Sony Xperia will sport Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 and 765 chipset which would make the handset be the first Sony 5G flagship and mid-range smartphone respectively.
